Netherlands international midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has admitted that he is not happy with life at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined the French club on a free transfer earlier this summer but he has found it difficult to hold down a regular starting berth under Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Liverpool star has played just 502 minutes this season and he would have expected to play a lot more when he decided to move to France.

The midfielder has been overlooked for key matches like the Manchester City clash in the Champions League as well.

Pochettino seems to prefer the likes of Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye over the Dutchman and it will be interesting to see if Wijnaldum can convince the former Tottenham manager to give him an extended run of games in the coming months.

Wijnaldum was a key player for Liverpool during his time at Anfield but the two parties failed to reach an agreement over a new contract and the Dutchman was allowed to move on.

However, the midfielder claims that he is a fighter and he will look to work hard and turn it around at his new club.

“I can’t say I’m completely happy,” Wijnaldum said (via Independent). “Because the situation is not what I wanted. But that’s football and I’ll have to learn to deal with that. I’m a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to turn it around.

“I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit and also did very well. This is something different and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult.”
