Marseille

Marseille will continue their search for a win in October when they welcome high-flying Lens to the Orange Velodrome as they go head to head in a crunch top-four clash.

Les Phocéens are winless in their last two games in the French Ligue 1 and come into this game off the back of a 1-0 loss to PSG last weekend. Neymar Jr scored the decisive goal as PSG maintained their grip on the number one spot.

Despite their loss to PSG, head coach Igor Tudor will be pleased with his side’s performance against the defending champions, as his side matched Christophe Galtier’s star-studded side blow for blow. The Croatian tactician will however wish for better luck this time when Lens come into town.

Marseille sit in fourth place in the Ligue 1 tables six points behind PSG and two points ahead of fifth-placed Rennes.

With Rennes and Monaco waiting on the wings to pounce on any slip-ups by Les Phocéens, Igor Tudor will be eager to see his side secure all three points and usurp Franck Haisse’s side in the third position.

Both teams have shared the spoils in their last five encounters, with two wins apiece, and one draw. Les Phocéens will be out to exert more dominance in this fixture by picking up all three points.

Possible Marseille starting line-up

Lens

Lens will travel to Marseille confident of getting a good result after a memorable outing last time out.

The visitors beat Montpellier 1-0 at home last weekend to record their fourth clean sheet in the last five league games.

The win was their seventh win of the season in Ligue 1, with Lille the only team to have beaten them in a narrow 1-0 loss away from home in round nine of the Ligue 1 season.

Under Franck Haise, Lens have made meaningful progress and will come into this fixture in a confident mood. With 24 points so far this season, Lens have picked up three points more than they did last season after 11 matches, and their total in the current season is also six points higher than it was two seasons ago at the same stage, showing how much they have continued to progress under their French manager.

Their next target in their attempt to finish the season in the top three will be sorting their away form which has seen them win just one of their opening five road trips.

Possible Lens starting line-up

Brice Samba; Massadio Haidara, Kevin Danso, Facundo Medina; P. Frankowksi, Salis Abdul Samad, Seko Fofana, Driver Machado; Florian Sotoca, Claude Maurice, Lois Openda.
