Paris Saint-Germain continued their red hot form with another 2-0 win in the French league against Montpellier.

The Ligue 1 giants have now picked up eight wins in eight league games. Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Julian Draxler sealed the three points for the home side tonight.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Donnarumma left out of the side once again

The Italian goalkeeper completed a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain early on in the summer and he is struggling to establish himself as a regular starter for the French outfit.

Donnarumma was outstanding for his country during the European Championships in the summer and he was named as the player of the tournament.

He would have expected to play a lot more when he decided to join PSG but Keylor Navas has been preferred over him so far.

His lack of game time at the French club recently fuelled speculations surrounding his future and it will be interesting to see how things evolve in the next few weeks.

Wasteful PSG could have scored more goals

Despite having the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at their disposal tonight, PSG were uncharacteristically wasteful in front of the goal.

The missed chances could have easily ended up costing them against better opposition tonight.

Lionel Messi was ruled out with an injury but the hosts had enough firepower to convert their chances.

Montpellier continue dreadful start

The visitors came into this game on the back of four winless matches in their last six.

They were comprehensively beaten tonight after a toothless performance in the attack. The away side barely threatened PSG tonight and they will have to improve in the final third in order to climb up the table.

Montpellier have just two wins in eight league games and so far they have displayed relegation form.
