AC Milan closing in on Mandzukic and Chelsea outcast Tomori

The Rossoneri are expected to sign the duo in the on-going winter transfer exchange.

AC Milan are expected to have two new faces sooner in the January transfer window, with one being Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

According to reports, Milan are in advanced talks with the Blues over the signing of Tomori on a loan deal.

Tomori has fallen down the pecking order of the Blues manager Frank Lampard after making only four appearances this season. Instead, the English gaffer has stuck with Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva as the primary centre-backs in the defence.

Lampard also commented on Tomori’s prospective loan move, saying the young centre-back can attain game time elsewhere on loan.

Fikayo is a developing player, we had four centre-backs last year, you can’t play four in a game but you try to find consistency of selection,” said Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

“This year we have five centre-backs so the predicament is difficult for the centre-backs who are not playing regularly and that’s why he may go out on loan for his development.

“He’s a young player, his development has been a huge rise in the last two or so seasons since I’ve been working with him and that will continue – we’ll find the best path for that.”

Milan are also expected to announce the signing of Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic in the coming days. The former Juventus star has been a free agent for a while and will sign a short term deal with Stefano Pioli’s side.
