PSG

After their disappointing loss to Nice in the Coupe de France last month, PSG got back to winning ways Sunday as they defeated defending champions Lille 5-1.

Goals from Danilo, Presnel Kimpembe, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe secured the win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They ensured that they come into this tie sitting 13 points above second-placed Marseille.

The win was also their third consecutive league win and was also their 17th win of the league season (D5, L1).

They will now look to continue their impressive home run, which has seen them win ten of their eleven home games this season (D1). The hosts have kept a clean sheet in four straight league outings at the Parc des Princes and have scored eleven goals in their last five meetings at the venue.

They will be seeking revenge after losing the reverse fixture by 2-0 (their only league loss of the season so far). Given that they have not lost twice in a single season against Rennes since the 2008/09 season, they will be confident of getting an excellent result here.

Possible PSG starting line-up

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes; Danilo, Leandro Paredes, Marco Verratti; Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Xavi Simons.

Injured: Ángel di María, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, Mauro Icardi and Georginio Wijnaldum

Rennes

Rennes got their quest for a top-three finish back on track last Sunday when they defeated Brest 2-0.

The visitors were on a poor run of form before that game, following losses to Clémont (2-1), Lens (1-0) and Monaco (2-1) before the international break. But Gaetan Laborde and Martin Terrier scored in the game to secure the win for the visitors and ensure that their chances of finishing in the top three places remain alive.

Bruno Genesio’s side are currently sitting in fifth place with 37 points (W11, D4, L8). They are six points behind Marseille in second place and can still finish in the top two if they apply themselves more.

While the odds are against them winning this game, recent history backs them up. Rennes account for three of the 13 home league losses PSG have suffered in the club’s Qatari era, representing more than any other Ligue 1 side.

Possible Rennes starting line-up

Alfred Gomis; Hamari Traore, Warmed Omari, Nayef Aguerd, Birger Meling; Lovro Majer, Jonas Martin, Baptiste Santamaria; Benjamin Bourigeaud, Gaetan Laborde, Martin Terrier.

Injured: Jeremy Doku, Romain Salin and Flavien Tait

Doubtful: None
