PSG

After the elation of beating Real Madrid in the UCL last week, run-away Ligue 1 leader Paris Saint-Germain were dealt a reality check on Saturday as they were beaten 3-1 by Nantes.

In an entertaining game at the Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes went three goals ahead in the first 45 minutes thanks to goals from Randal Muani, Quentin Merlin and Ludovic Blas.

After the restart, Neymar pulled one back for the Parisians. Shortly after that, the Brazilian could have doubled PSG’s lead from the penalty spot, but he could not convert the chance, allowing Nantes to go home with all three points.

The loss ended their 15-game unbeaten run (W10, D5) in the league and was the first time they conceded three goals in a single game this season.

Despite the loss, they remain firmly in control of the league as they come into this round of games with a 13 points cushion ahead of second-placed Marseille.

Returning to the Parc des Princes gives PSG a chance to defend the last remaining unbeaten home record in Ligue 1 in this campaign (W11, D1). They will go into the tie confident of winning.

Possible PSG starting line-up

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes; Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye, Gini Wijnaldum; Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar

Injured: Sergio Ramos, Leandro Paredes

St. Etienne

St. Etienne continued their upward league trajectory with another positive result last time out.

The visitors avoided defeat against Strasbourg on Sunday as they came from 2-1 down to snatch a point in the game thanks to Wahbi Khazri’s goal.

The result extended their unbeaten run to four games (W3, D1) and sees them come into this weekend sitting outside of the relegation zone.

‘Les Verts’ spent 20 game weeks in the relegation zone this season and will be thankful to be finally out. However, they still have a lot of work to do as they are just one point ahead of Lorient in 18th.

With only one clean sheet in their last 11 league matches, their vulnerabilities remain a constant concern.

However, they will fancy their chances in this game, given that they have won their last two league games on the road.

Possible St. Etienne starting line-up

Paul Bernardoni, Falaye Sacko, Eliaquim Mangala, Timothee Kolodziejczak, Romain Hamouma, Zaydou Youssouf, Lucas Gourna-Douath, Gabriel Silva, Adil Aouchiche, Ryad Boudebouz, Wahbi Khazri.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Enzo Crivelli, Joris Gnagnon

Suspended: None
