Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will welcome Troyes to Parc des Princes this Sunday in the 36th round of the 22021/22 Ligue 1 season.
Venue: Parc des Princes (Paris)
Paris Saint-Germain have won six of their last seven home games in all competitions (D1).
The hosts are unbeaten at home in Ligue 1 this season, winning 15 times and drawing twice.
They have scored the most league goals this season (79 goals).
Troyes have kept one clean sheet in their last five league games.
The visitors have scored fewer goals after half-time than any other Ligue 1 side (12).
They have failed to score in only one of their last nine away games.
Head to head
Troyes are winless in 15 competitive visits to the Parc des Princes, losing 13 times and drawing just twice while conceding 2+ goals in the last nine.
Latest performances in all competitions
Despite winning their 10th Ligue 1 title in history, things have not been very smooth for PSG.
The hosts are facing a revolt from a section of their fan base who are calling for some of their players and coach to be sacked following a dismal European campaign.
Another cause for concern has been PSG’s inability to dominate the league as expected. The Parisians were left frustrated last weekend, as they were leading 3-1 until the 75th minute against Strasbourg before finally having to settle for a 3-3 draw.
That result means that their chances of recording 90+ points this season is gone. Their complacency is hinting that they may already be focusing on next season, or that current coach Mauricio Pochettino is already looking away from the club as reported in some news outlets.
Whatever be the case, PSG does at least have the incentive of trying to remain undefeated at Parc des Princes (W15, D2) for the second time in three fully completed Ligue 1 campaigns.
They are on the verge of drawing three straight top-flight games in a single season for the first time since August 2012, but have a golden opportunity to avoid that scenario, considering they’ve won the last eight H2Hs against Troyes.
Possible PSG starting line-up
Gianluigi Donnarumma; Marquinhos, Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe; Achraf Hakimi, Danilo Pereira, Marco Verratti, Juan Bernat; Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar.
Injured: Colin Dagba, Abdou Diallo, Julian Draxler, Leandro Paredes
Doubtful: Mauro Icardi, Layvin Kurzawa, Ismael Gharbi
Meanwhile, Troyes will be looking to make it two wins in two league games for the first time since March.
They come into this tie on the back of a 3-0 win over last season’s champions Lille, taking their points tally for the season to 36 points.
And so, they are almost guaranteed to play a second consecutive campaign in Ligue 1 for the first time since 2006/07, considering that most observers believe the safety mark will be around 35 points this season.
But head coach Bruno Irles has remained cautious saying his team is still “one win short of survival”. And so, they will come into the tie desperate to get a win and guarantee their place in Ligue 1 next season.
But such hopes might be wishful at best considering that they have never emerged victorious in 15 competitive road trips here (D2, L13) while conceding 2+ goals in the last nine.
Possible Troyes starting line-up
Jessy Moulin; Oualid El Hajjam, Giulian Biancone, Erik Palmer-Brown; Issa Kabore, Xavier Chavalerin, Rominigue Kouame, Youssouf Kone; Renaud Ripart, Florian Tardieu, Ike Ugbo.
Injured: Abdu Conte, Yoann Salmier, Hyun0jun Suk, Karim Azamoum
Doubtful: Adil Rami
