Thomas Tuchel admits Neymar could be out for few weeks due to adductor injury

The Brazilian star picked up an injury during PSG’s Champions League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir.

PSG ace Neymar is set for a brief spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury against Basaksehir, confirmed by Thomas Tuchel.

The Brazilian star was forced off the field in the 27th minute of the game after picking up what looked like a thigh injury.

Thomas Tuchel has now revealed that Neymar has suffered an adductor injury and could be unavailable for a few weeks.

Tuchel said,

‘I hope it’s not a serious injury and we’ll wait to see the results of his scan tomorrow. It’s his adductor.’

‘He had to come off. He wasn’t in real pain but he felt uncomfortable. In a packed schedule, he could be out for a few games. But I’m not sure.’

PSG went on to win the game 2-0 even without their talisman, as Moise Kean scored a double in the second half, both goals being assisted by Kylian Mbappe. Kean also scored a brace in the last week’s Ligue 1 fixture against Dijon.

Neymar’s injury could be a blow for Les Parisiens as they are set to face a handful of congested fixtures next month including the Champions League game against RB Leipzig.

The Brazilian has been instrumental, as he was always, behind PSG’s good run in Ligue 1 this season, racking up two goals and three assists in four games. He also missed three games at the start due to Coronavirus and red card suspension.
