The Argentine is likely to leave Camp Nou this summer.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has sent shockwaves across the world after reports emerged that he had decided to call it time with his boyhood club. The decision comes as a huge surprise given his fidelity to the club for nearly around two decades. Messi looks to have lost faith in the current project of Barca with Josep Maria Bartomeu at the helm. However, there is no shortage of suitors for the Argentine despite him being 33.
Here are the possible destinations for Messi if he leaves Barcelona.
Recent reports suggest that Manchester City are leading the race to sign Messi this summer. It comes as no surprise since the Blaugrana star had stated long ago that Man City was one of his favourite clubs. With Pep Guardiola at the helm, Messi can reunite with his former boss after around eight years. Guardiola had said that he would love to see Messi retire in the Blaugrana colours.
Inter Milan are also running high in the list of next potential destinations for Messi. Antonio Conte had previously joked about the prospect of Messi coming to San Siro. However, Conte’s Inter looks to be a more interesting project, and the Argentine’s addition would be a massive coup for them to challenge for the Scudetto. Furthermore, Messi can revive the rivalry with Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo.
It has been understood that PSG is one of the possible destinations preferred by Messi. Thomas Tuchel has recently said that the Argentine skipper would be welcome at Parc des Princes. The trio of Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr sounds already frightening, and it would be a great signing if Les Praisiens were able to pull off the transfer of Messi.
The crosstown rivals Manchester United are also said to have held talks with the entourage of Messi ever since the reports of his exit surfaced. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his men will be competing for the Champions League this term and Messi could be a massive addition to the club.
