Messi contract details emerge
Lionel Messi is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and the initial details of his contract at the French Ligue 1 club have emerged now.
The player announced his departure with a press conference on Sunday.
According to reports, the former Barcelona player will sign a two-year contract with PSG with the option of a third year.
The 34-year-old Argentine superstar will earn around €75 million across his initial two seasons, and he will be handed a signing bonus of around €25 million.
The French club have recently agreed on a new deal with Neymar, and they are hoping to tie Kylian Mbappe down to an extension as well.
It will be interesting to see if they can abide by the financial fair play regulations after handing out massive wages to multiple players this summer.
They have signed the likes of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Gini Wijnaldum on free transfers as well.
A lawsuit filed to block Messi transfer
Meanwhile, lawyer Juan Branco has now launched a complaint with the Paris Court of Appeal on behalf of Barcelona’s partners regarding a breach of the financial fair play rules by Paris Saint-Germain.
There is a feeling that the French club has exceeded the salary limits with the signing of Lionel Messi, and the complaint has been lodged with the intention of blocking the player’s move to Paris.
It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds over the next few days now.
Branco said: “PSG’s ratios in terms of ‘Financial Fair Play’ are worse than those of Barcelona. In the 2019-20 season, the ratio between wages and income of the Parisian side was 99%. PSG did not respect the two economic ratios imposed by the DNCG (National Directorate for Management Control)”.
