Diego Maradona, who brought the Italian club as a real contender for Serie A title, and European club cup during his stay in Naples, had been Napoli’s top scorer for almost three decades with 115 goals, until Marek Hamsik surpassed him in December 2017.
Hamsik left Napoli with 121 goals, which Dries Mertens had been stuck on since February before the Coronavirus pandemic stopped the most of the European football. Mertens equaliser against Inter Milan few days back, sent the Partenopei into the Coppa Italia Final .
