After Guendouzi, another French youngster could face Arteta wrath at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager tests positive for coronavirus

William Saliba could face the wrath of Arteta over his comments on the Spaniard. The young defender has hit out at the Spanish gaffer for lack of opportunities.

Everyone must be well aware of Matteo Guendouzi’s fall out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, which eventually saw him leave Emirates Stadium to Hertha Berlin on loan.

William Saliba could be the next in the line as his recent comments on Arteta suggests that he could hardly have a future in North London.

Saliba, who has been loaned to Nice for the rest of 2020/21 season, has hardly featured for Arsenal’s first team since his transfer in 2019. Now, the 19-year-old points his finger towards Arteta for judging his talent with meagre one or two games.

“He judged me on two-and-a-half matches.

“I would have liked for him to play me more.

“But he told me I wasn’t ready. I was waiting for him to give me a chance, but football is like that.”

The young centre-back also emphasized that Arteta had told him that he wasn’t ready for first-team football.

“I arrived there as they were finishing the league season, so I was training alone.

“As soon as they came back from holidays, we quickly had the first friendly matches where I lacked rhythm and was a bit insufficient physically.

“The coach immediately told me that I was not ready. I would have at least liked to have a chance to rediscover my rhythm. But this is football, it’s like that.”

Saliba’s comments would definitely have its consequences and it would be no wonder if ends up parting ways with the Gunners in a year or so.

Guendouzi, who is on loan in Bundesliga, has recently named Mesut Ozil and Unai Emery were the best player and manager he worked with, which is cited as a slight dig at Arteta.

Saliba’s comments must have drawn the ire of the Spanish gaffer, who contradicted that Saliba’s loan move to Ligue 1 was for his development.
