Arsenal and Newcastle United join Jonathan David transfer chase

Jonathan David-Lille

Canadian international striker Jonathan David has been linked with a move away from French outfit Lille for months now.

The young forward has been outstanding for the French club and he has been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund recently.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Premier League sides Arsenal and Newcastle United are now keen on signing the highly-rated striker this summer.

It is no secret that Newcastle will need to improve their attacking options in the summer and signing a player like Jonathan David would be an exceptional acquisition.

The magpies currently have Callum Wilson as their only reliable goal scorer and the arrival of David could help share the goalscoring burden.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have already parted ways with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette is expected to follow in the summer.

The Gunners will need to bring in a quality goal scorer and the Canadian international would be a superb long term signing for them.

The Lille striker has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer and moving to Arsenal could help him improve further and fulfil his tremendous potential.

The 24-year-old striker has been in exceptional form this season and has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions at the club level.

There is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Both Newcastle and Arsenal certainly have the financial resources to pull out the signing and it remains to be seen where the player ends up.

A player of David’s calibre will want to play regular European football and Arsenal could have an advantage in the transfer chase if they manage to secure Champions League qualification this season.
