Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Inter Milan for a while now.
The former Tottenham midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Italian club and he has failed to impress manager Antonio Conte so far.
Apparently the Italian outfit are willing to cash in on him only a year after signing him from Tottenham, and Arsenal could bring him back to North London in a swap deal involving midfielder Granit Xhaka.
According to reports, Serie A giant Inter Milan will put the Danish midfielder up for sale when the transfer window reopens in January and the Italian outfit are considering a swap deal with Arsenal involving Granit Xhaka.
Antonio Conte wants to sign a quality defensive midfielder and the 28-year-old Arsenal midfielder is seen as a good option.
Swap deals are often very hard to execute because of the financial complications involved and it will be interesting to see if Inter Milan can pull this off.
Eriksen has proven to be a flop at Inter Milan and if they can get someone like Xhaka in exchange for him it would be a smart business for them.
As for Arsenal, they are in desperate need of a playmaker who can link their midfield with their attack and Eriksen could prove to be the ideal candidate. The Danish ace has the experience of playing in the Premier League as well and he could make an immediate impact if he returns to England.
In theory, the swap deal could benefit all parties involved and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the coming months.
