Aubameyang, Lacazette and two other Arsenal players tested positive for Covid-19

Aubameyang to get 3-year Arsenal deal worth around £250,000-a-week

Arsenal strikers Pierre-Emerick AubameyangAlexandre Lacazette, Willian and Alex Runarsson, have tested positive for Covid-19, according to the club.

The pair were absent from the Gunners’ game against Brentford last Friday for undisclosed reasons. But now Arsenal have confirmed that the players missed the game for returning positive covid test result.

Mikel Arteta‘s side were beaten 2-0 in that game as the attacking trio of Pepe, Martinelli and youngster Balogun were unable to lead the attack in their absence.

According to a report, the game last week was just hours away from being called off after the entire travelling Arsenal party were forced to take emergency Covid tests a few hours before the game. The entire coaching staff was also subjected to the testing, while the club also carried out further testing two days after the game.

The unscheduled round of testing was due to the positive tests of four Arsenal players – Aubameyang, Lacazette, Willian and Alex Runarsson.

Ahead of Sunday’s London derby with Chelsea, Aubameyang has now recorded a negative result and will be assessed further before the game.

Willian is also being assessed while Lacazette and Runarsson are still recovering and won’t be available for the visit of the current European champions.

Chelsea will be able to unleash their new signing, Romelu Lukaku, on the Gunners, who did a League double over them last season-winning 3-1 in the first leg at the Emirates and 1-0 away at Stamford Bridge.
