Brentford

After a two week absence, Brentford returned to Premier League action on Boxing Day only to be beaten 2-0 by Brighton.

Super goals from Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay condemned Thomas Frank’s side to the loss, which was their seventh loss in the top flight this season.

The result also means that Brentford come into this tie sitting in 13th place. With 20 points to their name so far, they are not in danger of relegation at the moment.

However, they will be desperate to pick up a win here and make it three wins at the Brentford Community Stadium after two consecutive wins at home against Watford and Everton.

Possible Brentford starting line-ups

Alvaro Fernandez; Tariq Lamptey, Pontus Jansson, Vitaly Janelt; Roerslev Rasmussen, Sahndon Baptiste, Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen, Rico Henry; Bryan Mbeumo, Ivan Toney.

Injured: Kristoffer Ajer, Joshua DeSilva, Julian Jeanvier, Mathias Jorgensen, David Raya.

Doubtful: Charlie Goode

Suspended: None.

Manchester City

Manchester City served up a Boxing Day cracker in their last PL outing where they played Leicester City in a nine-goal thriller.

In a game that saw the record number of goals scored in the league on Boxing Day, Pep Guardiola’s side threatened to do as much damage to the Foxes as they did to Leeds United after racing into a four-goal lead in the first half.

But they nearly blew the four-goal lead as Leicester scored three goals in the space of ten minutes early in the second half to bring the game to 4-3. However, the ‘Cityzens’ were able to hold on, eventually winning the game by 6-3.

The result gave them a six-point lead at the top and ensured that their winning run in the league extended to nine games. They are a team on form having scored a whopping 17 goals across their last three matches. They also have the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 12 goals this campaign.

They look very much like the champions already and will go into this with confidence and belief that they will pick up maximum points.

Possible Manchester City starting line-ups

Ederson; Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Rodri, Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne; Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva.

Injured: Liam Delap, John Stones,

Doubtful: Kyle Walker, Rodri
