Chelsea 2-5 West Brom: Allardyce’s men leave Chelsea in tatters after Thiago Silva sees an early red

Pulisic-Chelsea

Pereira and Robinson scored a double apiece to hammer shambolic Chelsea.

Chelsea suffered a horrendous 5-2 defeat in the hands of relegation-bound West Brom as Thomas Tuchel tasted his first loss since taking over at the Stamford Bridge.

Although Christian Pulisic gave the home side the breakthrough, they were soon reduced to ten men after Thiago Silva was sent off after accumulating his second yellow card.

The Baggies pounced on a man advantage as Matheus Pereira’s double in the added minutes of the first half put them on the driver seat.

It was downhill for the Blues since then as the visitors piled more pressure, with substitute Callum Robinson and Diagne scoring two quick goals.

Mason Mount pulled one back for the Blues in the 71st minute but Robison put the game to bed by completing his double in the stoppage time.

It was the first game after the international break but the Blues couldn’t have expected such a result. The defeat also marked Thomas Tuchel’s first since taking over the manager role at Stamford Bridge.

The Londoners, who had been defensively too good under the German boss, have ironically suffered their worst defeat of the season yet.

Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech were disappointing once again and the defeat would certainly put them under fire.

Tuchel will be leading his side next in the Champions League quarter-finals but their momentum must have certainly ruptured after today.

As far as the Premier League table is concerned, Chelse sit fourth and failed to close the gap with Leicester City. There is a big chance for West Ham to go past the Blues as they are only trailing by two points at fifth place.
