The Brazilian defender signed on a one year contract earlier in the summer and he has been quite impressive for the Blues in the Premier League and the Champions League.
He has helped the Blues improve defensively and his leadership qualities are highly rated at the club as well.
Thiago Silva has helped Chelsea keep 5 clean sheets in their last seven games and he seems fit enough to play at this level despite being 36.
Extending his contract for another season might prove to be a smart investment for the Premier League side and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can get the deal done.
