Christensen’s last-minute contract demand to Chelsea

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen will have his contract end at the end of this season, meaning that he can hold talks with clubs outside England in January.

The Blues have been working on Dane’s contract extension and are understood to have offered a new five-year deal.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Christensen’s agent has asked the Londoners to reduce the five-year deal to three, which has stalled the contract talks.

Earlier, the 25-year-old stated that he remains calm on his future at Stamford Bridge amid uncertainty over his new contract.

Christensen said: “I don’t think about it [talking to other clubs from January] at all,’ he said. ‘I enjoy playing football and I don’t feel there is any pressure or anything. I just enjoy it.

“I don’t know why everyone thinks it’s a bad situation. No one has said it’s bad [for] both parties. I’m still happy and I enjoy playing football.

“Yes (it’s in Chelsea’s interest to tie him down to a new contract), but on the other hand, they also have a player who right now enjoys playing football and the coach shows him confidence. There is no bad relationship, there is nothing.”

Blues make an initial move for Adeyemi

Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, and according to Football London, the Londoners have made their initial move for his signing.

The young German striker is one of the in-demand players in the market, having netted 15 goals for Salzburg so far this season. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Adeyemi’s situation.

Barkley to Newcastle

Newcastle United are leading the race for Ross Barkley, who is down the pecking order of Blues manager Thomas Tuchel.

Leeds United and Everton could rival the Magpies for the signing of the 27-year-old, who has made only four appearances in the Premier League this season.
