Chelsea

Chelsea will look to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Leeds United when they welcome Leicester to Stamford Bridge this Saturday.

The Blues were outclassed by Jesse Marsch’s side on Sunday, with goals from Brendan Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison condemning them to a 3-0 loss at Elland Road.

The loss ended a run of six games without defeat for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who now found themselves behind in the title race having won just one of their opening three league games (D1, L1).

They will return to Stamford Bridge looking to get back to winning ways. However, a return of just two wins in their last seven home league games does not inspire confidence. Also, their record against Leicester City will not give even the most optimistic Chelsea fan a lot of confidence.

Tuchel’s side have struggled in recent times against the Foxes at Stamford, with one win from their last five head-to-head meetings (D3, L1). But given the struggles of their visitors, they will fancy their chances of getting a positive result.

Possible Chelsea starting line-up

Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Marc Cucrella; Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek; Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling; Kai Havertz.

Injured: N’Golo Kante

Doubtful: Marcos Alonso

Suspended: Kalidou Koulibaly

Leicester City

Stories about the imminent transfer of Chelsea target Wesley Fofana might have overshadowed Leicester City in recent times.

But it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Foxes to hide under the shadow of the difficulties they are facing in the transfer market this summer. The visitors who are the only club yet to make a signing in this transfer window have started the new season on a very bad note, having not won any of their opening three games (D1, L2).

Their last league outing was a disappointing 2-1 loss to Southampton–a match they scored first but went on to lose.

They needed extra time and penalty to overcome lowly Stockport in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, highlighting how much of a struggle they are having currently.

Looking to preserve his future at the King Power Stadium, Brendan Rodgers will travel to Stamford Bridge, where he worked as a youth coach, needing a result that will ensure that he does not become the first managerial casualty in a Premier League season that is already full of drama.

Possible Leicester City starting line-up

Danny Ward; Timothy Castagne, Jonny Evans, Daniel Amartey, James Justin; Wilfred Ndidi; Youri Tielemans, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Jamie Vardy.

Injured: Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
