Chelsea suffer major injury blow; Azpilicueta, Pulisic, Pedro injured

Sheffield 3-0 Chelsea Chelsea's Champions league hopes in doubt

Chelsea crashed to a 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
The Blues took the lead early on but they failed to build on their impressive start.

Arsenal were allowed back into the game after a silly challenge from Azpilicueta resulted in a penalty. Arsenal did well to hang on to that and then score the winner in the second half. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put on a spectacular display and scored both goals for his team.

Apart from their lacklustre performance, Chelsea were unlucky with injuries as well.

Frank Lampard’s men were dealt with three injury blows during the game and all three  times they lost a key player.

Azpilicueta picked up an injury in the first half and then they lost Christian Pulisic to a hamstring injury after the break.

The injuries not only weakened the Chelsea side, it disrupted their flow as well.

Pulisic has been Chelsea’s best player in the recent weeks and he was the one who gave the Blues their lead. He could have created more chances for his side if he had stayed on.

Also, Azpilicueta is Chelsea’s most experienced and reliable defender.
Furthermore, Lampard brought on experienced winger Pedro to change the game for the Blues but the Spaniard dislocated his shoulder and had to be stretchered off.

Lampard said after the game that Pedro might have played his final game for the club and he will definitely miss the Bayern Munich game.

The player is all set to join Roma on a free transfer. The Chelsea boss went on to claim that the Spaniard has been a great servant for the club.

Chelsea will be bitterly disappointed with the way they lost the game and the fans would have expected a lot more.

On another day, the scoreline could have been very different.
Although the Gunners were impressive, they got lucky with the blows Chelsea had to suffer during the game.
