Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo Zagreb will be hoping for a minor miracle when they play host to Sevilla in the second leg of their Europa League clash on Thursday.

The Croatian club lost the first in Spain leg 3-1 leaving them with a mountain to climb. Goals from Anthony Martial, Lucas Ocampos and a penalty goal from Ivan Rakitic sealed the win for Sevilla and put them in the driving seat of this tie and perfectly poised to progress to the next round.

Dinamo Zagreb followed up their loss to Sevilla with a draw against Lokomotiva Zagreb in the domestic League and the loss to Sevilla was their first since November 2021.

The Croatian heavyweights enter to this encounter with all to play for and need to produce a big result if they are to overturn the first-leg deficit.

Since 2016, the two sides have met three times, with Sevilla winning all three of the encounters. Such a record should serve as extra motivation for the Croatians who have dominated the Croatian League but have never tasted continental success.

Possible Dinamo Zagreb starting line-up

Dominik Livaković; Josip Šutalo, Rasmus Lauritsen, Bartol Franjić; Stefan Ristovski, Josip Misic; Amer Gojak, Petar Bočkaj; Bruno Petkovic, Mislav Oršić, Deni Jurić.

Injured: Arijan Ademi, Luka Ivanusec, Dino Peric

Doubtful: Kevin Theophile-Catherine

Suspended: None

Sevilla

Sevilla will travel to Zagreb looking to complete a job they began last week when they won the first leg.

The visitors come into this tie with one foot in the next round, given their first-leg advantage.

They have had an impressive season so far, sitting comfortably in second position in La Liga, trailing Real Madrid by six points.

Much of their recent success has been down to the fine work Julen Lopetegui has put into the team. Since taking charge, the Spanish tactician has overseen a steady rise back to the pinnacle of Spanish football as the Seville based team are ahead of more traditional names such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the pecking order.

The visitors followed their win over Zagreb in the first leg with a disappointing draw away at Espanyol failing to see the game off after having taken the lead in the first half.

With this return leg holding away from home, Lopetegui knows that his boys have to produce a better result if they want to reclaim the trophy they won in his debut season when they beat Inter Milan 3:2 in the finals in RheinEnergieStadion Cologne.

Possible Sevilla starting line-up

Bono; Jesus Navas, Diego Carlos, Jules Kounde, Marcos Acuña; Fernando, Ivan Rakitić, Alejandro Gómez; Lucas Ocampus, Youssef En-Nesyri, Rafa Mir.

Injured: Suso, Erik Lamela, Karim Rekik and Anthony Martial

Doubtful: None
