Gianluca Mancini’s late strike helps Roma share spoils with Inter Milan

Inter have been held to a 2-2 draw by Roma at Stadio Olimpico after Gianluca Mancini scored a late equaliser.

The hosts had an early after Lorenzo Pellegrini’s deflected shot found the nets and it remained as the only goal in the first half.

Inter responded by scoring two goals in the second half, firstly centre-back Milan Skriniar netting the equaliser and then Achraf Hakimi established the lead with a stunning strike.

However, Giallorossi’s Mancini spoiled Inter’s plans of a comeback by scoring a late equaliser, helping his side eventually share points

Inter have dropped points for the second straight game and now they are currently three points behind the table leaders and arch-rivals AC Milan.

Inter manager Antonio Conte also offered his thoughts on the pulsating draw.

I think it was a good game, also in the first half. Don’t forget Roma have our same targets, they are just three points behind us, they sit third in the table. It was not easy to play this kind of game here.

I think there was a bit of anxiety to get an important result. We told the players to continue to press, because sitting deep is not a good thing. Roma had nothing to lose and tried to push ahead, it’s normal.

The Nerazzurri will next face Fiorentina and it remains to be seen whether they can pick up a win.

Meanwhile, Roma have maintained their brilliant run in Serie A and are now third in the table, three points behind Inter.
