Diogo Jota’s late winner against West Ham takes Liverpool to the top of the table

Diego Jota-Liverpool-Arsenal Match-Premier League

Liverpool picked up a 21- win over West Ham United in the Premier League earlier today.

Pablo Fornals gave the Hammers a well deserved lead 10 minutes into the game but the Reds came up with an equaliser on the 42nd minute when Mohamed Salah was fouled in the box by Arthur Masuaku.

Salah stepped up to convert the penalty for the home side.

Despite the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, Liverpool defended well throughout the game and Jurgen Klopp will be proud of the performance from Nat Phillips.

The defender was one of the best players on the pitch today.

West Ham had their chance to go ahead in the second half as well but Pablo Fornals failed to connect properly and Alisson saved his effort with ease.

As the game headed for a stalemate, Xherdan Shaqiri found a remarkable pass around the edge of the West Ham penalty area and Diogo Jota scored a fantastic goal to secure all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Portuguese attacker has been outstanding since his move to Anfield and he has helped the side win crucial points so far in the League.

Liverpool are now top of the table with 16 points and they have equalled their longest unbeaten home run of 63 matches.

Meanwhile West Ham United are 13th in the table after tonight’s defeat.
