Everton hold talks with Andrea Pirlo regarding the managerial vacancy, Maurizio Sarri a target as well

Andrea Pirlo-Juventus

Everton have been linked with quite a few managers in the last few days, and the latest names linked with a move to Goodison Park are Andrea Pirlo and Maurizio Sarri.

Apparently, the Toffees have held talks with Pirlo, who is looking to get back into management after his sacking from Juventus.

The former Italian international midfielder is quite inexperienced as a coach, and Everton’s decision to appoint him might be a gamble.

The Toffees need someone who is seasoned at the top level and can help them secure European qualification next year.

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri is thought to be a target for the Premier League side as well, and the Italian knows the Premier League well from his time with Chelsea.

It will be interesting to see who the Toffees end up appointing eventually.

Sarri is probably the safer choice given his experience of top-level management, and he did a reasonably good job at Chelsea despite managing to fall out with his players.

The Italian helped the London club win the Europa League during his time in England.

Nobody would have expected Everton to be in this position a few weeks ago. However, the departure of Zinedine Zidane forced Real Madrid to look at Carlo Ancelotti as a replacement, and the Italian decided to abandon his project at Goodison Park and move back to Santiago Bernabeu.

Everton must look to finalise the appointment of the new manager as soon as possible so that the players can get a proper pre-season, and the new manager would also have time to assemble his side in the transfer market.
