The Red Devils have failed to keep up their momentum in the last few league games.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann feels that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be axed from Manchester United.

Coming off a blockbuster transfer window, Man Utd created huge expectations with their terrific start to the season.

However, they have struggled to maintain their consistency of late, managing only one win in their last three league games.

Solskjaer has been put under scrutiny in recent weeks, and doubts started to emerge whether he can end United’s trophy drought this season. The defeat against Young Boys in the Champions League and the EFL Cup exit against West Ham added more pressure on the Norwegian manager.

Former Reds midfielder Hamann has blasted the Red Devils’ mediocre performances and claimed that Solskjaer’s time at Old Trafford would soon be over.

Hammann said (h/t Football 365): “The one and only reason why Manchester United are still in the title race and doing alright in the Champions League is Cristiano Ronaldo.”

“I don’t know where they would be without him or his goals. It is all patchwork. Old Trafford, that used to be the Theatre of Dreams, now it is more like the Theatre of Nightmares.

“Their performances are pathetic. At the moment, they just don’t play good football. Jadon Sancho is way behind expectations, which I don’t understand.

“Now I believe the pressure on the manager will grow a lot. I believe it is a matter of when – not if – they sack him, because he has been there too long for you not to see any progression.”

Following their scrappy win over West Ham last month, United suffered a shocking defeat against Aston Villa and a disappointing draw against Everton.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 14 points and will play Leicester City after the international break.
