Marc Roca joins Leeds United from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal

Elland Road-Leeds United

Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old will join the Lily Whites for an initial £10m deal on July 1 until the summer of 2026.

The Spaniard becomes the latest arrival in Elland Road following the signing of Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson.

Roca is a defensive midfielder. He was born in Spain, and began his career with RCD Espanyol, breaking through from the youth system into the first team at the RCDE Stadium. He made 121 appearances for the Spanish side, scoring three goals.

He played 24 games for Bayern and boasts two Bundesliga titles and a Club World Cup title. However, he never scored for the Bundesliga giants and left after just two years into a five-year contract.

Roca has averaged 1.7 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game, according to WhoScored.com. The defensive midfielder attempts 43 passes per game with an 85% accuracy. His stats are comparable to his new Leeds teammate Kalvin Phillips who averages 2.4 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game, completing 45 passes per game with a 79.5% accuracy.

Leeds will hope the Roca is available on Saturday, August 6, when they will kickstart their 2022/23 Premier League campaign at Elland Road against Wolves.
