Premier League newcomers Fulham have opened talks with Arsenal over the possible signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno according to reports.

The Cottagers who are preparing for life back in the Premier League next season are building what they believe is a squad that can compete favourably with the top teams in the top flight. They have so far have targeted a handful of sizable signings having brought in midfielder Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP.

There are plans to add a number of new faces, including a goalkeeper and according to 90min, the Arsenal goalkeeper is top on the list of targets to fill that position. According to the report, Fulham have long been in touch with Leno’s representatives, who have publicly confirmed the negotiations over personal terms. The goalkeeper has already struck a deal over a contract with Marco Silva’s side, leaving the club to try and negotiate a fee with Arsenal.

30-year-old Leno has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirate following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale last season. And with United States international Matt Turner joining this summer, Mikel Arteta’s side want to sell Leno as they see him as surplus to requirements.

They have already opened talks with Fulham but are still looking for the best possible fee for the German stopper, who has one year left on his contract.
