Everton midfielder James Rodriguez has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club this summer.

According to the latest reports, the 30-year-old playmaker has been informed that he is not a key part of Rafael Benitezs first-team plans at Everton anymore, and he could be sold if a suitable offer comes in.

Rodriguez has previously revealed that the only reason he joined the Toffees is because of Carlo Ancelotti. Still, the Italian has left the club, and he is currently managing Real Madrid.

It is evident that the player never really enjoyed his move to the Premier League, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Toffees cashed in on him before the transfer window shuts.

Benitez needs players who are committed to his cause, and Rodriguez is certainly distracted right now.

It will be interesting to see if any of his suitors are willing to come forward with an acceptable offer for the Colombian international in the coming weeks.

The 30-year-old’s debut season in the Premier League has been a bit of a mixed bag, and he managed to impress thoroughly before his injury problems.

There is no doubt that Rodriguez can be a top-class player when he is fit.

It is unlikely that Everton will demand a premium for his services given his situation at the club, and whoever ends up signing him could have a real bargain on their hands.
