Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson was linked with a move away from the club earlier on in the summer but the Reds have now agreed on a new deal with the club captain.
According to the latest reports, the England international is set to sign a three-year contract with the Premier League club and the Reds will have an option to extend his deal for another season if he manages to fulfil the required number of appearances.
Henderson has been a key part of Liverpool’s resurgence under Jurgen Klopp and the midfielder has helped them win the Premier League title and the Champions League in recent seasons.
Liverpool will have to hold on to the spine of their squad in order to keep challenging for the major trophies and keeping Henderson at the club for three more years is a wise decision.
Apart from his qualities as a footballer, Henderson has a massive impact on the club with his leadership skills. His presence in the Liverpool dressing room is invaluable and Liverpool will benefit from his stay on and off the pitch.
The Reds are determined to tie down their key start so long term contracts and they have already agreed on new deals with the likes of Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
Star forward Mohamed Salah is next in line to receive an improved contract.
