Jorginho‘s agent revealed that finding a contract extension with the Chelsea club is a “priority”. It was widely rumoured that the midfielder was on his way to moving out. However, he vows to renew the contract again.
“Chelsea are the priority,” Jorginho said according to Goal. “The contract will expire in 2023. I think we will talk about the renewal from September.”
Jorginho’s performance since his arrival is remarkable. Led the team to the 2020-21 Champions League Final with a victory and did the same for Azzurri at Euro 2020.
Chelsea stumbled during the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, and Jorginho was reportedly seeking a move to Serie A, as suggested by his agent. However, Jorginho wants to continue his legacy in Premier League now and insists that the Blues remain his first choice.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, having lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona and Lukaku returned to Inter, the club are now in a hustle to find new replacements.
