The young Irish keeper made vital saves in the penalty shootout during the win against Leicester in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Liverpool produced an incredible turnaround victory against Leicester City last night in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Despite trailing 3-1 by halftime, the Red completed a stunning comeback, with Takumi Minamino netting the ultimate equalizer in injury time.

Jurgen Klopp’s side prevailed during the shootout, thanks to young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who made two vital saves against Ryan Bertrand and Luke Thomas.

The German manager has showered praises on the 23-year-old for his heroics, stating that he is good at his feet and also aware of the game.

Klopp said (h/t The Daily Mail): “Of course it is important, but he is an outstanding goalkeeper. ‘I don’t want to say any more he is a talent but he is an outstanding goalie, good with his feet, good game understanding.

“It is nice. It is not the first time he was part of these spectacular games, against Arsenal it was similar but this was a step forward and he saved our life, he was really helpful.

“I’m really really happy, really happy with the performance, with the spirit, the mentality. In a lot of moments with the football it was difficult for us in the first half as we had to make a lot of changes.”

Liverpool have progressed to the last four of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2017. They will be playing Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the semi-finals next month.
