Paris Saint-Germain are looking to tie Kylian Mbappe down to a new long term contract.

The French international has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid in the recent months and the French outfit will want to keep him at the club for as long as possible.

The World Cup winner is a key player for Paris Saint-Germain and losing him will be a major blow for the club.

According to the club’s sporting director Leonardo, Paris Saint-Germain are now making progress in the talks to agree on a new deal with the player.

He said: “We’re talking. We want to discuss, and he also wants to discuss. Now is also the time to come to a clearer idea of his future,” Leonardo told on Saturday. It is going well. We have taken steps forward compared to 10, 15 days ago and we will continue.”

Lionel Messi

Meanwhile the Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has also responded to claims regarding a potential move for Lionel Messi.

Recently Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar urged Lionel Messi to join him at the French club but Leonardo claims that he will not fuel further speculations surrounding Messi’s move to the French outfit  out of respect for Barcelona.

The PSG sporting director claimed that he does not enjoy other clubs talking about his players and therefore he won’t comment on the speculations regarding Lionel Messi joining the French outfit in future.

He said: “We have to maintain respect for others. He’s a Barcelona player. When somebody talks about our players, we are not happy. So we don’t touch other people’s players. Now is not the time to think about the transfer window.

The Argentine superstar is a free agent at the end of this season and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

He has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City in the recent months.
