The USMNT star is reportedly not in the plans of Xavi.

Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for right-back Sergino Dest as they are planning to trim the squad to raise funds for new signings.

According to ESPN, Barca are open to selling the USMNT international in the winter transfer exchange should a suitable offer arrive.

Dest moved to Camp Nou from Ajax for around £20m last year and showed flashes of brilliance in his debut season.

His progress has been slightly hindered due to injuries this season, with Barca utilising Ronald Araujo as a makeshift right-back in the last few games.

Although the American youngster’s ceiling is high and has a bright future ahead of him, he is not in the plans of new manager Xavi.

The Spaniard is counting on veteran defender Dani Alves, who will be able to play from the start of the next year.

Furthermore, Xavi has added Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta as a potential target, with his contract at Stamford Bridge expiring next summer.

As far as the potential suitors of Dest are concerned, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have shown interest in the former Ajax star.

Bayern, perhaps, was in the race to sign Dest before he opted for Barca last year. The Bavarians’ interest remains alive and they could look to sign him in January to strengthen their right-back slot.

The Gunners acquired the services of Tomiyasu in the last summer transfer window but they still want an attacking full-back of Dest’s quality.

Barca have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Manchester City winger Ferran Torres, who is set to become the first signing in Xavi’s era.

The La Liga giants are increasingly confident they can sign more players if they manage to sell outcasts like Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti.
