The Argentine boss has extended his stay at Elland Road until 2023.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has agreed to a one-year contract extension, confirmed by the club.

The Argentine’s contract runs until the summer of 2022 but has now extended his stay for another season.

Before the announcement, Bielsa spoke about his future, stating that everything had been resolved.

A statement from Leeds read:” Leeds United are pleased to confirm Marcelo Bielsa has signed a new contract to remain in charge at Elland Road.

“The Argentine has agreed on a fresh one-year deal, running until the end of the 2021/22 season.”

Bielsa took charge at Elland Road in 2018 and helped the Whites to achieve promotion to the top flight last summer.

The Argentine’s side, which finished ninth in the Premier League table, grabbed the attention of many with their impressive performances last season.

As far as the summer transfer window is concerned, Leeds have been quite active so far, adding the likes of Jack Harrison – signing him permanently from Manchester City, Junior Firpo, Amari Miller, Lewis Bate, Kristoffer Klaesson and Sean McGurk.

Bielas also lauded the club’s efforts to improve training facilities.

“From my point of view, this is an extraordinary club. It’s not often you have a club that designates so much volume of investment to improve the training facilities.

“Leeds have made a significant contribution economically to provide the tools for a manager to prepare to be the ideal ones.”

Leeds will take on rivals Manchester United in their season opener on Saturday.
