Leicester City have placed a hefty £85million price tag on Chelsea target Wesley Fofana

The Blues want to sign the Leicester defender after missing out on top transfer target Jules Kounde to Barcelona earlier this week.

They have opened talks with Leicester City for the defender and are believed to be prepared to offer players as part of a deal that will bring the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

However, according to reports by Sportsmail, Leicester do not wish to sell Fofana for less than £85million.

The France youth international only signed a five-year contract with the Foxes in March, despite spending most of last season out injured.

According to reports, Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers is not interested in letting the young prospect leave without garnering a significant fee.

Fofana joined Leicester in 2020 for £36.5million and became a fan favourite with his strong display. In his maiden season at the King Power Stadium, the 21-year-old established himself as a key part of Rodgers’ side, making 28 appearances in the Premier League as Leicester narrowly missed out on Champions League football.

After returning from injury earlier this season, Rodgers said:

“He’s got the speed, he’s dominant and competitive and that’s so important. Some players have the physicality but they don’t necessarily use it.

“He’s aggressive, he defends forward and once he’s got the positioning he’ll go on to be one of the leading centre-halves in football, I’ve got absolutely no question about that,” Rodgers added.

If Chelsea cannot get Fofana, Thomas Tuchel’s side might turn their attention to Inter Milan defenders Denzel Dumfries and Milan Skriniar.
