Liverpool Update: Latest on Demiral link, Ben Davies deal, Souness’s Salah rant

Mohamed Salah-Liverpool

Demiral offer turned down

Liverpool are interested in signing the Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

According to reports, the Premier League champions submitted a £50 million bid to Juventus for the highly-rated Turkish defender but the Italian Giants have decided to turn down the offer.

It will be interesting to see if Klopp can sign centre back before the transfer window closes.

Demiral would be a fantastic signing for them in the long run given how talented the 22-year-old is but it seems highly unlikely that the Premier League side will be able to convince Juventus at this stage of the window.

If the Italian club decides to sell him now they will struggle to find a replacement in time.

Reds closing in on Ben Davies

Apparently, they are closing in on a deal to sign the Preston defender Ben Davies for a fee of around £2 million.

The 25-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and Liverpool have agreed on a fee with the Championship club to snap him up this month.

The Reds are going through an injury crisis at the back right now and they need to bring in defensive reinforcements.

Liverpool have been linked with the lights of Sven Botman and Caleta-Car as well.

Souness’s bizarre Salah rant

Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has levelled out a scathing attack on Mohamed Salah for being selfish on the pitch.

The Egyptian international scored a brace against West Ham last night and soon as believes that the Liverpool star tends to shoot more often out of selfishness instead of passing to his teammates.

“Have you ever seen anyone greedier than him? Ever?” – The Scot asked Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports.

He added: “I sit and watch Liverpool play and think, if my mate Kenny [Dalglish] had been playing with him they’d have been fighting each other in the dressing room after every game, he just wouldn’t tolerate it. But his numbers, he’ll say at the end of his career, ‘look at my numbers.'”
