Chelsea are interested to sign Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake. Ake spent his senior career at Chelsea but struggled to establish himself in the team and left the club after several loans spells away.

He moved to Bournemouth and made an incredible turning point in his career. That is the time when Manchester City decided to buy the Dutch international for a reported £41million in 2020.

Although he has only been used as a rotation option, his two seasons with City are remarkable and impressive whenever he’s been called upon.

The Dutch international is high up on Thomas Tuchel’s transfer wish list this summer as the Stamford Bridge club looks to strengthen their defence, with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger both leaving the club.

According to Si, Ake is believed to be happy at the club. Reports said Manchester City had informed the player that he is free to depart the Etihad Stadium, should the suitable proposal be made.

Chelsea would like to offer the defender more guaranteed minutes to show his potential. Ake is “the most likely candidate to succeed Antonio Rudiger” in the blues’ defence, as per Matt Law of the Telegraph.

However, Manchester City doesn’t fully claim that they were selling Ake as there has been no formal bid tabled for the 27-year-old yet.
