Manchester City

Premier League defending champions Manchester City will look to extend their lead at the top of the league table this Saturday when they take on Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola‘s side did not play in the Carabao Cup during the week because they had crashed out of the League Cup two rounds ago. They will come into this tie with six days of rest in their legs and with a renewed desire to go again.

Their last outing was a 4-1 win over Swindon in the FA Cup last week. The result secured a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup for the Sky Blues.

But in the league, their last outing was on New Year’s Day when they won Arsenal 2-1. The win, followed by Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool gave them a ten points lead at the top. They can go 13 points clear if they win this game.

Their form in recent times makes them the favourites to win this tie and should also give them the needed confidence to take maximum points from this game.

Possible Man City starting line-ups

Ederson; Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Ayermic Laporte, João Cancelo; Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne; Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Jack Grealish.

Chelsea

Chelsea will look to cut Manchester City’s lead at the top to seven points when they visit the Etihad this weekend.

The Blues come into this tie on the back of a 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal in the game to book Chelsea a place in the final.

The win was Chelsea’s third win on the bounce in all competitions and ensured the London side will play in their third cup final since the appointment o Thomas Tuchel. It also extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to eleven games.

Although Tuchel’s men are unbeaten in six league games, they have won just one of those games, drawing the other five while keeping just one clean sheet. Their last league result was a 2-2 draw with fellow title challengers Liverpool, a game that they came from 2-0 down to draw.

They have performed well against Man City in recent times and will hope that they can put in one of those performances in this game, and cut the gap between them and the leaders.

Possible Chelsea starting line-ups

Kepa Arizaballaga; Andre Christensen, Thaigk Silva, Antonio Rudiger; Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Mattoe Kovacic, Marcos Alonso; Mason Mount, Kai Havertz; Romelu Lukaku.
