Manchester City

Manchester City will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Crystal Palace to the Etihad this Saturday.

The Cityzens dropped their first points of the new season last Sunday when they were held to a 3-3 draw with Newcastle United.

In an entertaining game at St. James’ Park, Pep Guardiola’s side went ahead very early in the game through Ilkay Gundogan. But a spirited Newcastle United side fought back to go two goals ahead, after Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier had scored.

But a second-half fight-back from the league defending saw them snatch an equaliser and a point. The result means that they became the fourth side in history to avoid defeat in three consecutive Premier League matches when falling two goals behind.

The point also preserved their unbeaten start to the season and extended their unbeaten run in the league to 15 games.

With Chelsea and Liverpool both struggling, the hosts will look to capitalise and push themselves up the table. A win at this ground where they have won their last five PL fixtures whilst scoring an average of four goals per game is almost guaranteed.

However, they will have to be cautious, as Patrick Vieira’s Palace are the only team to beat them in a Saturday 3pm PL kick-off across City’s last 54 such games (W46, D6, L2).

Possible Manchester City starting line-up

Ederson Moraes, Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Joao Cancelo; Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland.

Injured: Aymeric Laporte

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace will look to continue their unbeaten run against Manchester City when they travel to the Etihad on Saturday.

The visitors were one of three sides (alongside Liverpool and Tottenham) to avoid a defeat against Man City last season, as they won the Cityzens at the Etihad before holding them to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park.

As such, they come into this game with two clean sheets in their last two games against City. They will hope for a repeat performance on Saturday as they look to build on their decent start to the season.

Patrick Vieira’s side have had a credible start to the season, taking four points from their opening three games despite facing Arsenal and Liverpool in those games.

They come into this tie on the back of a 2-0 win over Oxford United in the EFL Cup. And so a positive result in this game will extend their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions and keep them firmly in pursuit of their season’s aim which is to finish in the top half of the table.

Possible Crystal Palace starting line-up

Vicente Guaita; Nathaniel Clyne, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell; Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp; Eberechi Eze, Jordan Ayew, Wilfried Zaha; Odsonne Edouard.

Injured: Jack Butland, Nathan Ferguson, James McArthur, James Tomkins

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
