The Red Devils are looking to sign the wantaway French defender this summer.

Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane after finalising the deal for Jadon Sancho.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are confident they can secure the services of the French defender for a cut-price fee of £ 43 million.

Having reached an agreement with Dortmund for Jadon Sancho, Premier League giant are showing their ambitions in the transfer market as they have identified Varane as their next target.

Varane has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since it was reported that the Frenchman is keen to leave the Spanish giants this summer.

Los Blancos had affixed a price tag worth 70m euros for the 28-year-old, whose contract expires next summer.

However, Real would be forced to sell the Frenchman for a lower fee in order to avoid him leaving for free. Furthermore, the Spanish giants are set for a major overhaul under Carlo Ancelotti, and hence there is a dire need to offload players to generate funds.

Madrid have identified Villarreal defender Pau Torres as Varane’s alternative, with the Spaniard currently away with the national team for Euro 2020.

United are working on defensive reinforcements, and Varane can bring a lot of experience and quality to the backline.

The centre-back pairing Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have been often criticised for their performances. With the addition of Varane, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would look to end the trophy drought for the Red Devils.
