Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is set to be rewarded with a new contract extension.

The 26-year-old has been outstanding for the Red Devils over the past year, and he was quite impressive for England in the European Championships.

The defender put on some excellent displays in the knockout rounds of the Euros, and he scored in the final against Italy.

Shaw was undoubtedly the best left-back in the league last season, and his current deal at Old Trafford runs out in 2023.

Manchester United have an option to extend his deal for another year. However, the player is expected to sign a long term contract with the Premier League giants.

The defender is set to join up with Manchester United for pre-season training soon.

Luke Shaw is seen as a key part of the Manchester United project, and it is no surprise that the Red Devils are looking to tie him down to a long term deal.

The 26-year-old struggled to live up to the expectations after his move from Southampton, but he has turned his career around at Old Trafford since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The defender was heavily criticized when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the Red Devils, but Solskjaer has done well to get the best out of him over the last 18 months.

The defender’s resurgence has caught Mourinho’s eye as well, and the Portuguese manager recently heaped praise on the player.

Shaw is clearly playing his best football right now, and he is likely to get better with experience.
