Marcelo Bielsa among nine candidates shortlisted to replace Barcelona’s Ronald Koeman

Marcelo Bielsa-Leeds United

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks and there have been reports that the club hierarchy is unhappy with this management of the site so far.

The Dutchman failed to challenge for the league title last year and Barcelona do not seem capable of mounting a title challenge this season either. They are currently 7th in the La Liga table.

It is hardly surprising that the Spanish giants are being linked with other managers.

According to reports from Cuatro, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is one of the nine candidates being considered to replace Koeman at Barcelona.

Bielsa has done an exceptional job at Elland Road and he guided Leeds from the Championship to 9th place in the Premier League standings last season.

The Argentine is often lauded for his high-intensity football and his philosophy could be a good fit for a club like Barcelona.

Some of the other names linked with the Barcelona job are Thierry Henry, Roberto Martinez, Andrea Pirlo, Erik Ten Hag, Antonio Conte, Albert Capellas and Sergi Barjuan.

It will be interesting to see who Barcelona end up appointing eventually but there is no doubt that Conte, Martinez and Bielsa are probably the pick of the names from the list.

Apparently, Bielsa has been on Barcelona’s radars for years and the Argentine would be open to the move if a good offer is presented.

It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds now.
