Newcastle United

Newcastle United will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Manchester United to St. James’s Park on Monday.

The hosts have lost their last three PL games by an aggregate scoreline of 11-1. Their last outing was against Man City who beat them 4-0.

Those three games came against top sides (Liverpool, Leicester and Man City) and their unlucky run of fixtures now continues with a visit from another top side.

Despite their newfound financial prowess, Eddie Howe’s side are still battling to beat relegation this season. They come into this fixture sitting in 19th place, and with the worst defensive record in the league, having conceded a whopping 41 goals – five more than any other side. Having been breached 79 times in the calendar year, Newcastle could set a new unwanted record for most Premier League goals conceded in that period – a record Howe will be desperate to avoid.

A win here looks impossible, but the hosts will be desperate to give a good account of themselves in this game.

Possible Newcastle United starting line-ups

Martin Dubravka; Jacob Murphy, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schär, Matt Ritchie; Miguel Almiron, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Joelinton; Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Injured: Paul Dummett, Jamal Lewis, Federico Fernandez

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Isaac Hayden

Manchester United

After a Covid enforced break, Manchester United are now ready to return to Premier League football.

The Red Devils have not played since December 11, having seen their winter preparations disrupted amid the surge in coronavirus cases.

They make the journey to Tyneside looking to build on their last three PL results, which saw them win Arsenal (3-2), Crystal Palace (1-0) and most recently Norwich City (1-0).

They come into this round of matches occupying the sixth spot in the table–five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal but with two games in hand.

They are unbeaten in six games in all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked and having scored in all of their away league games so far this term, Newcastle’s depleted defence could be in for another rough ride on home soil.

Possible Manchester United starting line-ups

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Alex Telles; Fred, Scott McTominay; Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes; Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford.

Injured: Paul Pogba

Doubtful: Edinson Cavani, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Aaron Wan-Bissaka
