Fernandez sent Man United to semis from extra-time penalty

Manchester United picked up a 1-0 win over Copenhagen in the Europa League quarterfinals earlier today.

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.

The Red Devils dominated the game from start to finish but they could not convert their chances. However they were awarded a penalty in extra time and Fernandez managed to convert.

It was their 21st penalty of the season And Fernandes’ 7th penalty since joining the Red Devils.

Manchester United came close to scoring twice in the normal time but Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood hit the post.

Copenhagen star Johnsson put on a goal keeping masterclass against the Premier League side today and he will be disappointed not to have guided his side into the semi finals of the competition.

Meanwhile Inter Milan also qualified for the semi finals of the Europa League and it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the trophy eventually.

Manchester United and Inter Milan are both capable of winning the Europa League this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that his side can go all the way.

Despite today’s win Manchester United will know that they have to improve their attacking performance going forward. The likes of Inter Milan and Sevilla have better attackers and United must improve in that Department if they want to win the trophy this season.
