Spurs eyeing Depay

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing the Barcelona winger Memphis Depay.

The Dutch international will be out of contract in the summer of 2023, and it will be interesting to see whether Barcelona are willing to renew his contract.

Barcelona are aware of the interest from several English clubs, and they are set to make a decision regarding his future soon.

Apparently, Depay is happy at the Spanish club, and he’s willing to stay for the long term.

Spurs could definitely use a quality wide player, and the Dutchman would be a quality addition alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

The likes of Steven Bergwijn have been linked with a move away from the London club, and Depay would be a superb replacement for his compatriot at the North London club.

Rice set for England captaincy

Meanwhile, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is in the frame for England captaincy, according to manager Gareth Southgate.

After the win over Switzerland, Southgate said: “A really mature performance (from Rice), strong, breaks the game up so well, but now has more confidence to drive with the ball and bring it forward as well. Without a doubt, he has all the attributes to be a captain.

The defensive midfielder has been exceptional for club and country over the past year, and he has shown that he has leadership qualities as well.

It will be interesting to see if Rice is handed the captaincy ahead of the World Cup later this year.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is currently the captain of the England national team, but the striker has struggled to hit top form in the major tournaments for his country so far.

Rice, on the other hand, was exceptional for England during the European Championships, and he’s likely to be a key player for his country in the World Cup as well.

Chelsea handed Tchouameni boost

French international midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with a move to the Premier League for weeks now, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

The highly talented midfielder was rumoured to have an agreement to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, but Fabrizio Romano is claiming that the player has not decided on his future yet, and he is being pursued by the likes of Chelsea this summer.

The Blues could certainly use a quality central midfielder in the summer, and the 22-year-old has the potential to develop into a top-class player in the future.
