Sydney FC

Sydney FC will look to get back to winning ways when they play Macarthur FC this Wednesday.

The hosts had their three-game winning run brought to a halt last time when they were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle Jets. The loss was their seventh loss in the 19 games they have played this season, bringing their total points tally for the season to 24 points.

With 255 points to their name, they are currently occupying the last playoffs spot in the table and are targeting to finish at least within the top six or higher. The Sky Blues are level on points with seventh-placed Wellington Phoenix and are just two points ahead of Central Coast Mariners in the eighth spot.

Given the narrow gap between them and the chasing pack and with just seven games left to play this season, they will be desperate to avoid losing further to prevent the other teams beneath overtaking them.

Possible Sydney FC starting line-up

Tom Heward-Belle; Conor O’Toole, Callum Talbot, Alex Wilkinson, James Donachie; Anthony Caceres, Paulo Retre, Patrick Yazbek, Milos Ninkovic; Le Fondre, Bobo.

Injured: None

Suspended: None

Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC’s poor form continued last time out as they were beaten 1-0 by Melbourne City last weekend.

In a largely one-sided game at the Campbelltown Stadium, a second-half goal by Jamie Maclaren was all that was needed to give the defending champions maximum points in the game and, in the process, condemned the Bulls to their fourth loss in the last five games.

Although they are still in the top six despite their recent slump, Ante Milicic’s men cannot continue to drop points at their current rate. Otherwise, they stand the chance of dropping out of the top six in this game, given that they are just one point ahead of Wellington Phoenix in seventh.

And so, they will be desperate to get the win that will keep them firmly within the top six on Wednesday.

Possible Macarthur FC starting line-up

Nicholas Suman; Adrian Mariappa, Aleksandar Jovanovic, Tomislav Uskok; Liam Rose, Charles M’Mombwa, Jordan Mutch, Craig Noone; Daniel De Silva, Lachlan Rose, Tommy Oar.

Injured: Tomi Juric

Suspended: None
