Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz

The 18-year-old midfielder has already established himself as an important first-team player for the German club, and Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick is keen to snap him up.

According to a report via football 365, the 63-year-old German manager knows the Leverkusen midfielder well and the 18-year-old is currently his number one target.

The midfielder is valued at around £60 million and Rangnick is prepared to step up his efforts to sign the prodigious young talent.

The midfielder has been in impressive form this season and he has picked up eight goals and 11 assists across 20 matches this season.

There is no doubt that the youngster has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer in the future and working with a top-class manager like Rangnick could accelerate his development and help him achieve his potential.

Manchester United could use more creativity in the midfield and the German could prove to be a quality long term acquisition for them.

France international midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with an exit from Manchester United in recent months and the 18-year-old could be his long term replacement at the club.

The Red Devils are unlikely to be the only European clubs looking to sign Florian Wirtz this summer. It will be interesting to see whether Manchester United can fend off the competition and secure his signature in the coming months.
