Arsenal are undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs of all time. While they have experienced a considerable dip in form, post the departure of Arsene Wenger in 2018, the Gunners have shown signs of improvement under Mikel Arteta. However, their current squad is still far from perfect and is in dire need of some reliable reinforcements. Subsequently, the London-based clubs are consistently linked with several players. With this January being no exception, let’s take a look at the top 5 targets for Arsenal in this winter transfer window.

5. Denis Zakaria (Borussia Monchengladbach)

With his contract coming to an end in six months, Denis Zakaria has emerged as a wanted property for multiple European super-clubs. While Manchester UnitedBarcelona and Juventus are already interested in bringing the midfielder in, Arsenal are the latest club to enter the rumour mill. According to some German media outlets, the Gunners have already enquired Monchengladbach about the availability of their all-action midfielder. With so many clubs vying for Zakaria’s signature, Arsenal have an uphill battle at their hands.

4. Danilo (Palmeiras)

The latest rumour to spring up among the other entries on our list, Arsenal, have already submitted a €25 million bid for 20-year-old Danilo if reports are to be believed. A deep-lying midfielder who enjoys progressing the ball, Danilo can be an ideal fit for the Gunners, who are yet to find a stable combination in the middle of their park. Physically strong and capable of performing a box-to-box role, Danilo has the ability to thrive in the Premier League. However, these are still early days for this rumour, and the deal might take some time to materialize, if at all.

3. Arthur Melo (Juventus)

Out of favour, Juventus player Arthur Melo is another midfielder heavily linked with a move to the Emirates. Having failed to secure consistent playing time in Turin, Arthur’s stock has experienced a massive collapse, with the 25-year-old Brazilian making just 12 appearances this term. The Gunners are reportedly looking to get him on loan for the remainder of the season before tying him up on a permanent deal afterwards. However, the situation looks much more complicated, with Juventus looking for a replacement before offloading Arthur.

2. Bruno Guimaraes (Olympique Lyon)

With Granit Xhaka continuing to jeopardize his position at Arsenal and Mohamed Elneny having one foot already out of the door, the Gunners have scoured Bruno Guimaraes as the man to lead their midfield for years to come. According to reports, the Lyon midfielder appears to be on the top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist, with Arsenal agreeing to part ways with €45 million for the youngster’s signature. If not now, the deal can go through in the summers.

1. Dusan Vlahovic (Fiorentina)

One of the hottest properties in world football at the moment of writing, Dusan Vlahovic, has exploded onto the scene with Fiorentina. With 16 goals in Serie A already, Vlahovic is in very high demand. However, it looks like Arsenal are the favourites to land the Serbian’s signature. With the decline of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette, the London-based club are desperate for an elite striker and are ready to break the bank for it. Valued at €70 million, Vlahovic will not come for cheap if he chooses to come to England at all.
