Bologna 0-1 Napoli: Osimhen’s strike helps Napoli pick up a narrow win

Victor Osimhen-Napoli

The first half goal from Victor Osimhen made the difference for Napoli in the narrow away win in Serie A.

Napoli have picked up a narrow away win against Bologna, with Victor Osimhen scoring the only goal of the game.

Osimhen found the breakthrough for Napoli right before the half time when he netted a thumping header from Hirving Lozano’s cross. It also helped Osimhen return to the scoring form after he had previously netted his maiden goal in the 6-0 hammering of Genoa.

The Neapolitan looked desperate for adding more in the second-half however they couldn’t find a way out of Bologna’s packed low block.

Bologna, who had hardly been involved in the attacking phase, came into life in the final quarter as they caused a little trouble to Napoli’s defence.

The home side’s best chance occurred when Ricardo Orsolini, after being picked out by Soriano, had his shot saved by David Ospina, who further denied the rebound from Rodrigo Palacio.

Palacio soon tested Ospina with another shot, but the Colombian made another fine save to keep the scoreboard intact. Those were the crucial moments which could have changed the complexion of the game.

Eventually, Napoli settled to the 1-0 scoreline and has now cruised to the third in Serie A table.

Earlier this week, the Partenopei produced a turnaround against Rijeka in Europa League, beating them 2-1.

Napoli’s brief winning run in Serie A was halted by Sassuolo last Sunday as Roberto De Zerbi’ men beat them 2-0.
